Katja Herbers is the daughters of violinist Vera Beths and oboist Werner Herbers. In her early years Herbers traveled with her mother in America for a tour with the chamber music ensemble L'Archibudelli. The woman she married was cellist Anner Bylsma and her father remarried costume designer Leonie Poliak, who introduced her to the theatre.
